Dr Rajesh Kumar Pandey is presently serving at SLBS National Sanskrit University as a University Librarian. Prior to his present engagement, Dr Pandey has served at SLBS National Sanskrit University as Assistant Librarian, at the Indian Council of Medical Research (Hqrs) as Library & Information Assistant, at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya as Librarian, and at the ICMR-NIC Centre for Bio-Medical Information as Sr Documentation Assistant.
Dr Pandey holds a Doctoral Degree in Library & Information Science from Jiwaji University, Gwalior, BLISc and MLISc from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, and has qualified for the UGC-NET examination. Besides, he holds a Postgraduate degree in Life Sciences from T.M. Bhagalpur University, Bhagalpur.
A committed library professional with a visionary approach, Dr Pandey has, over the years, completely transformed the university’s library system through policies, operations, collection development, user engagement, and technology interventions, and introduced innovative services for visually impaired students, research scholars and teachers. He has devised and implemented the University Integrated Library System (UILS), under which all department libraries have been brought under the Central Library’s aegis, ensuring effective management and service delivery to stakeholders. His concerted endeavours have resulted in developing awareness amongst faculty members and students regarding academic and research integrity, plagiarism, quality publications in Scopus/WoS-indexed journals, etc. His efforts have led the university to rank among the top contributors to Shodhganga amongst Sanskrit Universities and others.
His areas of interest include Academic Libraries, Library Policies, Management of Library & Information Centres, Information Storage and Retrieval, Knowledge Management, Academic Ethics and Integrity, Higher Education Policy, and Information Literacy.
Dr Pandey has published around 42 research papers in various journals, contributed chapters to edited books, presented papers at national and international conferences, delivered talks at various platforms, and served on various committees for academic and research purposes.
He is a life member of the Indian Library Association and the Indian Association of Special Library and Information Centres.
